On June 19, 2025, the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, was notified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office that the 74-year-old female pedestrian involved in this collision had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
This is the 37th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 15 at the same time in 2024.
The investigation remains ongoing.

On June 17, 2025 at about 12:10 P.M. a serious hit and run motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred at the intersection of Kaheka Street and Makaloa Street in the Honolulu area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 74-year-old female pedestrian was attempting to cross Makaloa Street within a marked crosswalk, when she was struck by an unidentified motorist.
The unidentified motorist fled the scene in an unknown direction and has yet to be identified.
As a result of the collision, the 74-year-old female pedestrian was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.
At this time, speed does not appear to be a contributing factor of this collision. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were contributing factors.
