Serious Hit & Run Motor Vehicle Collision

On June 8, 2025 at about 6:00 P.M. a serious hit and run motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred at the intersection of Ward Avenue and Waimanu Street in the Kakaako area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 25-year-old male pedestrian was attempting to cross Ward Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by an unidentified male motorist who was making a left turn from Waimanu Street onto Ward Avenue.

The unidentified male motorist fled the scene and was last seen traveling southbound on Ward Avenue. He has yet to be identified.

As a result of the collision, the 25-year-old male pedestrian was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.

At this time, speed does not appear to be a contributing factor of this collision. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were contributing factors.
