On May 12, 2025, at about 1:20 PM, a serious hit-and-run motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles occurred on Paki Avenue, in the Waikiki area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 39-year-old female motorist, along with her 39-year-old male passenger were traveling westbound on Paki Avenue, when she traveled into the eastbound lane and collided head on with a 33-year-old female motorist and her juvenile passenger.
After the collision the 39-year-old female motorist fled the scene on foot and failed to render aid or provide information. Her 39-year-old male passenger remained on scene and refused medical treatment.
As a result of the collision, the 33-year-old female motorist was taken to an area hospital in serious condition by Emergency Medical Services. Her juvenile passenger was not injured.
The 39-year-old female motorist was later located and subsequently arrested for Collisions Involving Substantial Bodily Injury and Driving Without License (DWOL).
All individuals involved were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.
At this time, speed, drugs and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors of this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
