On April 8, 2025, at about 11:30 PM, a serious motor vehicle collision involving a moped and a vehicle occurred on Farrington Highway in the Waipahu area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 50-year-old male moped operator was traveling eastbound on Farrington Highway in the #2 (right) lane when it was rear-ended by an unidentified motorist  prior to the intersection. 

The unidentified motorist fled the scene, heading eastbound on Farrington Highway and at this time, had yet to be identified. 

As a result of the collision, the 50-year-old male moped operator was transported by Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition.
