On October 20, 2022, a 45 year old male was arrested for Collisions Involving Substantial Bodily Injury and was later released pending further investigation.

***ORIGINAL***
On October 17, 2022, at about 7:00 PM, a serious hit and run motor vehicle collision occurred involving a pick up truck and a moped.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 2001 Ford pick up truck, operated by an unknown male, was headed east on Kapiolani Boulevard and attempted to make a left turn onto Pumehana Street.
As he made the left turn, he collided into a 2020 moped that was being operated by a 19 year old female with a 19 year old female passenger, that was headed west on Kapiolani Boulevard.
Both moped occupants were taken to an area hospital and were listed as being in serious condition. They were not wearing helmets at the time of the collision.
The male operator of the truck fled the scene and has yet to be identified.
At this time, speed does not appear to be a factor in this collision. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were factors.
