On October 9, 2026, at approximately 2:28 p.m., a single-vehicle, non-traffic motor vehicle collision occurred within the private parking lot of a condominium complex in the Honolulu area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that an 84-year-old female motorist was traveling northbound on the fifth floor of the parking structure located at 1088 Bishop Street when her vehicle struck and breached a retaining wall, causing it to fall approximately five stories before landing on its roof on the sidewalk along South Hotel Street.
As a result of the collision, the 84-year-old female motorist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 84-year-old female motorist was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol are a contributing factor of this collision.
This is the 4th Non-Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 0 at this same time in 2025.
The investigation is ongoing.
