On February 10, 2026, at about 7:55 PM, a fatal non traffic pedestrian motor vehicle collision occurred in the private driveway of a residence in the Kalihi area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 19-year-old female motorist was attempting to reverse out of the driveway when it struck a 72-year-old male pedestrian who was laying in the driveway behind the 19-year-old female motorist’s vehicle.
As a result of the collision, the 72-year-old male pedestrian was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 19-year-old female motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, speed, drugs or alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors in this collision.
This is the 1st Non Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 0 at this same time in 2025.
The investigation is ongoing.
