On November 07, 2025, at about 5:10 PM, a fatal non-traffic motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred in the private driveway of Hale Wai Vista in the Waianae area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that an unidentified motorist was traveling southbound within the extended private driveway of the Hale Wai Vista apartment complex when it struck a 65-year-old male pedestrian who was crossing the driveway near Farrington Highway. The unidentified motorist then made a right turn onto Farrington Highway and continued traveling westbound without stopping to render aid or provide information.
As a result of the collision, the 65-year-old male pedestrian was taken to an area hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The unidentified motorist remains unknown at this time
In the area of the collision, there were no crosswalks for pedestrian traffic.
At this time, speed does not appear to be a contributing factor of this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are factors.
This is the 1st Non-Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 2 at this same time in 2024.
The investigation is ongoing.
