On September 24, 2021, at about 0845 hours, a single motor vehicle collision occurred on fronting 41-560 Kalanianaole Highway, in Waimanalo.

A 79 year old female operating a Honda sedan, was traveling eastbound on Kalanianaole Highway and for unknown reasons, the vehicle veered off the road and struck a metal pole.

The female operator was a lone occupant and was transported to an area hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to her injuries and pronounced dead. The female operator possibly had a medical condition.

Speed, alcohol and drugs does not appear to be contributing factors.

This investigation is on-going.
