On February 26, 2022, District 8 Patrol notified the VHS that a critical motor vehicle collision occurred involving a single vehicle with a single occupant in the Nanakuli area.

Unit 1, a 2015 Dodge van, operated by a 58 year old male, was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway when he disregarded a red light at the Pua Avenue intersection. Unit 1 then traveled over a curb and collided into a metal traffic light pole.

The operator was taken to an area hospital and was listed as being in critical condition.

Speed appears to be a possible factor in this collision. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were factors.
