On Sunday, February 28, 2021, the Vehicular Homicide Section was notified by the Medical Examiner’s Office that the 47 year old male pedestrian involved in this collision succumbed to his injuries and died.
This is the 7th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 8 at this same time last year.
This investigation is on-going.
On Friday, February 26, 2021, at about 8:20 p.m., a Motor Vehicle Collision occurred in the Barbers Point area involving a pedestrian.
A Toyota sedan operated by a 71 year old female, was traveling northbound on Coral Sea Road, when it struck a pedestrian just passed Tripoli Street.
The operator of the sedan fled the scene and was later located in the Barbers Point area. The female operator was subsequently arrested for fleeing the scene of the collision.
The 47 year old male pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk. He was transported to an area hospital in Critical condition.
Speed, Drugs, or Alcohol does not appear to be contributing factors.
