On October 15, 2025, the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, was notified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office that the 70-year-old male pedestrian involved in this collision had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
This is the 67th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 35 at the same time in 2024.
The investigation remains ongoing.

On September 30, 2025, at about 9:10 P. M., a critical motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on the Liliha Street On-ramp to the H-1 East Freeway, in the Honolulu area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 61-year-old male motorist was traveling southbound on Liliha Street with the left green arrow illuminated, when he executed a left tun onto the H-1 eastbound freeway, and struck a 70-year-old male pedestrian who was crossing the roadway in a marked crosswalk against the pedestrian “Do Not Walk” signal.
As a result of the collision, the 70-year-old male pedestrian was taken via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 61-year-old male motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time speed, alcohol, or drugs do not appear to be a contributing factor of this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
