The investigation remains ongoing.

***ORIGINAL***

On September 30, 2025, at about 9:10 P. M., a critical motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on the Liliha Street On-ramp to the H-1 East Freeway, in the Honolulu area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 61-year-old male motorist was traveling southbound on Liliha Street with the left green arrow illuminated, when he executed a left tun onto the H-1 eastbound freeway, and struck a 70-year-old male pedestrian who was crossing the roadway in a marked crosswalk against the pedestrian “Do Not Walk” signal.

As a result of the collision, the 70-year-old male pedestrian was taken via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.

The 61-year-old male motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.

At this time speed, alcohol, or drugs do not appear to be a contributing factor of this collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
