On Sunday, May 15, 2022, at about 8:55 P.M., a critical pedestrian motor vehicle collision occurred near Kaahumanu Street and Laauhuahua Place in the Pearl City area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section that a 23-year-old male motorist was traveling northbound on Kaahumanu Street when he collided with two pedestrians, a 75-year-old male and an 81-year-old female who were attempting to cross Kaahumanu Street outside of a marked crosswalk.
As a result of the collision, both the 75-year-old male and the 81-year-old female were taken to an area hospital in serious condition. The 81-year-old female was later downgraded to critical condition.
The 23-year-old male motorist was not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors.
The investigation is ongoing.
