On September 25, 2021, at about 0832 hours, a motor vehicle collision occurred fronting 2705 Kaimuki Avenue, involving a vehicle and a moped.

A 22 year old female operating a Kia sedan was traveling westbound on Kaimuki Avenue. She attempted to make a left turn into Kaimuki High School driveway when she collided with a moped driven by a 45-year-old male who was traveling eastbound on Kaimuki Avenue. 

The operator of the Kia vehicle was not injured and remained at the scene.

The male operator of the moped was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision and was ejected from his moped upon impact.  The male was transported to an area hospital in critical condition with possible head and body injuries.

Speed, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a contributing factor in this collision.

This investigation is on-going.
