On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at about 7:27 A.M., a critical motor vehicle collision involving a motorcyclist occurred on Waianae Valley Road in the Waianae area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 31-year-old motorist was traveling northbound on Waianae Valley Road when he attempted to make a left turn into a private driveway and was broadsided by a 36-year-old motorcyclist traveling southbound on Waianae Valley Road.
As a result of the collision, the 36-year-old motorcyclist operator was ejected onto the roadway.
The 36-year-old male operator was taken via EMS to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 36-year-old male operator was wearing a helmet during the collision.
The 31-year-old male remained at the scene of the collision and was not injured.
At this time, speed appears to be a contributing factor of this collision. Drugs, and alcohol do not appear to be a contributing factor of this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
