On Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at about 7:40 p.m., a motor vehicle collision occurred in the Honolulu area involving a moped and a parked vehicle.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section that a black Sanyan moped operated by a 64 year old male, was traveling eastbound on Puowaina Drive at a high rate of speed. It lost control when it struck a parked and unoccupied vehicle before it struck the pavement.
The moped operator was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
Speed appears to be a factor in this collision. It was unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors.
This investigation is ongoing.
