On January 22, 2024, at about 07:57 AM, a critical motor vehicle collision occurred on the shoulder of Farrington Highway, East of Leihoku Street in the Waianae area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 42 year-old female motorist lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and collided with the metal barrier.

The 42 year-old female motorist was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. The 39-year-old female passenger was also injured and taken to an area hospital in serious condition.

At this time speed, drugs, or alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors of this collision. 

The investigation is ongoing.
