On 3-14-21, at about 4:24 p.m., a critical motor vehicle collision occurred on Kalanianaole Highway near the “Halona Blow Hole” lookout parking lot.
A 21 year old male operating a Ruff House moped was traveling westbound on Kalanianaole Highway when he rear ended a stopped 2019 Ford Explorer. The moped was seen passing other vehicles just prior to the collision.
The operator of the moped was take to a nearby hospital and was listed as being in critical condition. He was not wearing a helmet at the time.
The 31 year old male operator of the Explorer and his two juvenile passengers, a 10 year old female and a 6 year old male were all uninjured.
At this time, speed was a possible factor in this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors.
