On July 5, 2025, at about 7:51 PM, a critical Motor Vehicle Collision occurred at the intersection of Farrington Highway and Pohakunui Avenue in the Nanakuli area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that an 18 year-old motorist was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway when it made an illegal left turn onto Pohakunui Avenue and collided with a 31 year-old motorcyclist, which was traveling eastbound on Farrington Highway.
As a result of the collision, the 31 year-old motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway.
The 31 year-old motorcyclist operator was wearing a helmet.
The 18 year-old motorist was not injured and remained at the scene.
The 18 year-old motorist showed signs of impairment and was subsequently placed under arrest for OVUII.
The 31 year-old motorcyclist operator was transported to Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition but was later listed in serious condition.
At this time, alcohol appears to be a contributing factor of this collision. Both speed and drugs do not appear to be contributing factors.
The investigation is ongoing.
