On Sunday, November 13, 2022, the Vehicular Homicide Section was notified by the Medical Examiner’s Office that the 31 year old male operator of the Mercedes-Benz SUV, involved in this collision succumbed to his injuries.
This was the 46th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 37 at this same time last year.
This investigation is on-going.
On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at approximately 1:06 p.m., a major motor vehicle collision occurred in the Kapolei area, involving a vehicle.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section that a silver colored Mercedes-Benz SUV, operated by a 31 year old male, was traveling erratically on the H1 Freeway eastbound. At about 1 mile prior to the Kunia Road Off-ramp, the Mercedes SUV lost control when it veered onto the shoulder, overturned, and collided with the center median divider.
The operator of the Mercedes SUV was not wearing a seatbelt. He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
It was unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol were factors in this collision.
