On May 21, 2025, the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, was notified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office that the 29-year-old female pedestrian involved in this collision had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
This is the 30th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 12 at the same time in 2024.
The investigation remains ongoing.

On May 20, 2025, at about 9:10 P.M. a critical motor vehicle collision occurred on North Nimitz Highway in the Airport area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 52-year-old female motorist was traveling westbound on North Nimitz Highway when she struck a 29-year-old female pedestrian who was walking in the roadway outside of a crosswalk.
As a result of the initial collision the 29-year-old female pedestrian was lying on the roadway when it was struck in a secondary collision by a 57-year-old male motorist.
The 29-year-old female pedestrian was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
Both the 52-year-old female motorist, and the 57-year-old male motorist remained at the scene of the collision and were not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors of this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
