On January 11, 2021, at about 6:35 pm, a Critical Motor Vehicle Collision occurred in the Kahuku area.

A 37 year old female was riding her skateboard down Huehu St and disregarded a stop sign at Leleuli St.

A 42 year old male was driving his 2016 Toyota van with his 10 year old son in the front passenger seat on Leleuli St and collided into the female skateboarder within the intersection.

The female skateboarder was taken to an area hospital and was listed as being in critical condition. The adult male operator of the vehicle and his 10 year old son were both uninjured.

Speed, drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors on the part of the vehicle’s operator. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors on the part of the skateboarder.

The investigation is on going.
