On May 10, 2025, at about 8:50 A.M., a critical motor vehicle collision occurred on the H-1 Freeway westbound near the Kaonohi Street overpass in the Aiea area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 49-year-old female motorist was traveling westbound on the H-1 Freeway with her passengers a 61-year-old female and a 74-year-old female when she suffered a medical emergency and sideswiped a 52-year-old male motorist.
As a result of the initial collision, the 49-year-old motorist was redirected and struck a concrete barrier. She then continued forward and collided with a 45-year-old male motorist, as well as a fourth vehicle occupied by a 43-year-old female motorist and her 69-year-old passenger
The 49-year-old female motorist was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. Both of her passengers were transported in serious condition.
The occupants of the fourth vehicle, the 43-year-old female motorist and her 69-year-old passenger were taken to an area hospital in good condition.
No other injuries were reported as a result of the collision.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors.
The investigation is ongoing.
