On October 8, 2022, at about 6:00 PM, a critical motor vehicle collision involving a bus and a motorcyclist occurred on Salt Lake Boulevard near the main entrance to Aloha Stadium in the Salt Lake area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 43-year-old male motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Salt Lake Boulevard approaching the main entrance to Aloha Stadium.
The 43-year-old motorcyclist disregarded a red traffic signal and entered the intersection of Salt Lake Boulevard fronting the main entrance of Aloha Stadium and collided with a 64-year-old male bus operator who was traveling northbound on Salt Lake Boulevard.
The motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital in serious condition, his condition later deteriorated, and he was listed in critical condition.
The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The male bus operator was not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, speed appears to be a contributing factor in this collision.
This investigation is ongoing.
