On April 17, 2025, at about 2:00 P.M., a critical motor vehicle collision involving a motorcyclist occurred at the intersection of Farrington Highway and Lualualei Naval Road in the Nanakuli area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 70-year-old female motorist was traveling eastbound on Farrington Highway when she attempted to make a left turn onto Lualualei Naval Road.
As the 70-year-old female motorist made the turn she was broadsided by a 45-year-old male motorcyclist who was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway at a high rate of speed.
As a result of the collision, the 45-year-old motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway.
The 45-year-old male motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 45-year-old male motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The 70-year-old female motorist remained at the scene and was not injured.
At this time, speed appears to be a contributing factor of this collision. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
The investigation is ongoing.
