On December 13, 2020, at about 8:00 pm, the Honolulu Police Department’s Vehicular Homicide Section was notified by District 8 Patrol of a Critical Motor Vehicle Collision in the Ewa area.
On December 13, 2020, at about 7:45 pm, a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 28 year old male, was reported to have been weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed on the H-1 Freeway, westbound near the Ewa on ramp.
The motorcycle clipped the rear of a 2007 Chevy mini SUV that was being operated by a 29 year old female. The motorcyclist fell to the pavement and sustained critical injuries. He was taken to an area hospital in Critical condition. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. The operator of the vehicle was not injured.
At this time, speed appears to be a contributing factor on the part of the motorcyclist. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were factors.
Speed, alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors on the part of the vehicles operator.
The investigation is on going.
