On November 25, 2021, the Medical Examiners Office notified the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that the male motorist who was involved in a collision that occurred on November 21, 2021, at 4:00 A.M. in the area of Waianae Valley Road and Piliuka Place in the Waianae area had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
This is the 38th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 47 at this same time in 2020.

On November 21, 2021, at about 4:00 A.M., a critical motor vehicle collision occurred on Waianae Valley Road just before Piliuka Place in the Waianae area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section that a male motorist who has yet to be positively identified was traveling northbound on Waianae Valley Road when for reasons unknown, he veered across the southbound lane of Waianae Valley Road onto the dirt shoulder and collided with a wooden utility pole.
As a result of the initial collision, the vehicle rolled over before coming to final rest, where the unidentified male motorist had to be extricated.
The unidentified male motorist was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
At the time of the collision, the unidentified male motorist was not wearing a seatbelt.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors in this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
