On January 24, 2025, the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section was notified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office that the 60-year-old male bicyclist involved in this collision succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
This is the 5th Traffic Fatality of 2025 as compared to 2 at the same time in 2024.
The investigation remains ongoing.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department that a 40-year-old female motorist was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway as a 60-year-old male electric bicyclist traveled alongside.
The 60-year-old electric bicyclist attempted to change lanes and collided into the side of the 40-year-old female motorist’s vehicle.
As a result of the collision the 60-year-old male electric bicyclist was ejected onto the roadway and later transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 60-year-old male electric bicyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The 40-year-old female motorist remained on scene and was not injured.
At this time neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be a contributing factor of this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
