On September 5, 2026, at about 9:39 P.M., a critical motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle occurred on the H1 East Freeway in the Pearl City area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 31-year-old male motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on the H1 Freeway when it rear ended a 39 year-old male motorist with three juvenile female passengers, who was stalled in the left lane.

As a result of the collision, the 31-year-old male motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway and transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.

The 31-year-old male motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The 39 year-old male motorist and two of the juvenile female rear seat passengers were not injured. One juvenile female rear seat passenger reported minor injuries as a result of the collision, but refused treatment at the scene. 

At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol is a contributing factor of this collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
