On July 18, 2026, at about 1:51 P.M., a critical motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle occurred on the H-1 Freeway in the Kapolei area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 19-year-old male motorcyclist was traveling westbound on the H-1 Freeway when he attempted to travel between two vehicles and struck a 50-year-old male motorist.
As a result of the collision, the 19-year-old male motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway and subsequently transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 19-year-old male motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The 50-year-old male motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol are contributing factors in this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
