On July 12, 2026, at about 6:00 P.M., a critical motor vehicle collision involving a single vehicle occurred on Round Top Drive in the Makiki area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 39-year-old female motorist was traveling northbound on Round Top Drive, when for unknown reasons, she traveled off of the roadway onto the unimproved shoulder and struck a tree.

As a result of the collision, the 39-year-old female motorist was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.

The 39-year-old female motorist was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

At this time, speed does not appear to be a contributing factor of this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are contributing factors.

The investigation is ongoing.
