On April 21, 2026, at about 3:15 P.M., a critical motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on Mokuola Street in the Waipahu area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 22-year-old male motorist was traveling northbound on Mokuola Street, when he traveled to the right of the roadway and collided into a tree. The 22-year-old male motorist then continued traveling forward onto the sidewalk and struck a 32-year-old male pedestrian, who was walking northbound on the sidewalk area of Mokuola Street.
As a result of the collision, the 32-year-old male pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 22-year-old male motorist was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in good condition.
At this time, speed, drugs, or alcohol do not appear to be a contributing factor.
The investigation is ongoing.
