On March 31, 2026, at about 11:50 P.M., a critical motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on Kapiolani Boulevard in the McCully area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 61-year-old male motorist was traveling westbound on Kapiolani Boulevard, when it struck a 61-year-old male pedestrian, who was crossing Kapiolani Boulevard in the northbound direction.
As a result of the collision, the 61-year-old male pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 61-year-old male pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk.
The 61-year-old male motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, speed, drugs, or alcohol do not appear to be a contributing factor of this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
