On March 10, 2026, at about 11:45 A.M., a critical motor vehicle collision involving a bicyclist occurred on Kapiolani Boulevard in the McCully area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 36-year-old male motorist was traveling westbound on Kapiolani Boulevard, when it struck a 68-year-old bicyclist who traveled into the path of the 36-year-old motorist from the sidewalk area into the westbound lanes.
As a result of the collision, the 68-year-old male bicyclist was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 68-year-old male bicyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The 36-year-old male motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, speed, drugs, or alcohol do not appear to be a contributing factor of this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
