On February 26, 2026, the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, was notified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office that the 82-year-old female pedestrian involved in this collision had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
This is the 8th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 13 at the same time in 2025

On February 24, 2026, at about 10:09 A.M., a critical motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred at the intersection of Alexander Street and Dole Street, in the Punahou area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 59-year-old male motorist and his 31-year-old male passenger were traveling westbound on Dole Street and executed a left turn onto Alexander Street, when the 59-year-old male motorist struck an 82-year-old female pedestrian who was crossing in a marked crosswalk.
As a result of the collision, the 82-year-old female pedestrian was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 59-year-old male motorist and his 31-year-old male passenger remained at the scene and were not injured as a result of this collision.
At this time speed, alcohol, or drugs do not appear to be a contributing factor of this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
