On February 10, 2026, at about 6:35 A.M., a motor vehicle collision involving an electric bicyclist occurred near the intersection of Farrington Highway and Hikukahi Street, in the Kapolei area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 36-year-old male motorist was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway near the intersection of Hikukahi Street with the green light illuminated, when it struck a 20-year-old male electric bicyclist that was traveling eastbound on Farrington Highway and executed a left turn against the red arrow into the path of the 36-year-old motorist.
As a result of the collision, the 20-year-old male electric bicyclist was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 36-year-old male motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
The 20-year-old bicyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, speed does not appear to be a contributing factor of this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are a factor.
The investigation is ongoing.
