On December 4, 2025, at about 9:23 P.M., a critical motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on Moanalua Road in the Aiea area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 52-year-old female motorist was traveling westbound on Moanalua Road when she struck a 76-year-old female pedestrian who was crossing Moanalua Road in a marked crosswalk near the intersection of Ualo Street.
As a result of the collision, the 76-year-old female pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 52-year-old female motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
The 52-year-old female motorist exhibited signs of impairment and was subsequently placed under arrest for Negligent Injury in the First Degree and Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of an Intoxicant.
At this time, alcohol appears to be a contributing factor in this collision. It is unknown if speed or drugs are contributing factors.
The investigation is ongoing.
