On October 28, 2025, at about 12:35 AM, a critical motor vehicle collision involving a moped occurred on Keolu Drive in the Kailua area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 31-year-old male moped operator was traveling southbound on Keolu Drive, when he lost control and collided with the concrete curb ejecting the 31-year-old male moped operator onto the roadway. 

As a result of the collision, the 31-year-old male moped operator was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition. 

The 31-year-old male moped operator was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol is a contributing factor.

The investigation is ongoing.
