On September 21, 2025, at about 10:41 PM, a critical motor vehicle collision involving multiple pedestrians occurred on the H-1 West Freeway in the Pearl City area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 24-year-old male motorist was traveling westbound in lane 1 on the H1 Freeway, when it sideswiped a 28-year-old male motorist who was stopped in lane 2 for an unrelated collision. The 24-year-old male motorist then struck a 51-year-old male pedestrian, 35-year-old male pedestrian, and a 24-year-old male pedestrian who were standing in the roadway, before sideswiping a parked and unattended vehicle.
As a result of the collisions, the 51-year-old male pedestrian and the 35-year-old male pedestrian were taken via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 28-year-old male motorist and the 24-year-old male pedestrian were taken via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition.
The 24-year-old male motorist remained at the scene and refused treatment by Emergency Medical Services.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol, are contributing factors of this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
