On August 11, 2025, the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, was notified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office that the 25-year-old male motorcyclist involved in this collision had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
This is the 50th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 25 at the same time in 2024.
The investigation remains ongoing.

On August 10, 2025, at about 7:15 PM, a critical motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle occurred within the intersection of Farrington Highway and Waiomea Street, in the Kapolei area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 44-year-old female motorist was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway, made a left turn onto Waiomea Street against the red arrow signal, and was broadsided by a 25-year-old male motorcyclist that was traveling eastbound on Farrington Highway.
As a result of the collision, the 25-year-old male motorcyclist was ejected off the motorcycle and into the rear of the vehicle operated by 44-year-old female motorist.
The 25-year-old male motorcyclist was transported by Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 25-year-old male motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The 44-year-old female motorist complained of pain but refused treatment by Emergency Medical Services at the scene.
At this time, speed appears to be a contributing factor of this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors of this collision.
The investigation is on going.
