On July 28, 2025, at about 9:17 PM, a critical motor vehicle collision involving a single vehicle occurred on Pali Highway near Waokanaka Street, in the Nuuanu area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 30-year-old male motorist was traveling southbound on Pali Highway in lane #2, when the front left tire experienced a blowout, causing the 30-year-old motorist to lose control and collide into a traffic pole. The 30-year-old motorist continued traveling forward and struck a guardrail where he came to rest.
As a result of the collision, the 30-year-old male motorist was transported to an area hospital in critical condition by Emergency Medical Services.
The 30-year-old male motorist was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
At this time it is unknown if drugs or alcohol are a contributing factor. Speed is believed to be a contributing factor of this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
