On October 28, 2025, at about 08:45 A.M., a critical motor vehicle collision occurred on Farrington Highway in the Nanakuli area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 55-year-old male motorist was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway and traveled into the right shoulder lane to avoid a collision with a vehicle stopped at the red traffic signal at the intersection of Waiomea Street. A 64-year-old male motorist, also traveled into the right shoulder lane to avoid a collision with the vehicle stopped at the red traffic signal, and rear-ended the 55-year-old male motorist.
As a result of the collision, the 55-year-old male motorist was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 64-year-old male motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, speed appears to be a contributing factor in this collision. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol are a contributing factor.
The investigation is ongoing.
