On September 27, 2024, at approximately 10:06 a.m., a critical hit-and-run motor vehicle collision occurred in the area of Kaamilo Street and Kalawina Place in Aiea.

A 75-year-old male pedestrian, who was performing yard work while standing in the roadway in front of a private residence, was struck by an unidentified motorist who fled the scene.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital in serious condition and was later downgraded to critical condition.

The suspect vehicle fled westbound on Kaamilo Street but has since been identified and located.
