On March 9, 2024, at about 12:45 AM, a critical hit and run motor vehicle collision involving two pedestrians occurred on Farrington Highway in the Mokuleia area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a motorist, who has yet to be identified, was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway when, for unknown reasons, it traveled to the right of the roadway, and collided head-on with an unoccupied vehicle that was parked on the shoulder.

The force of the initial collision pushed the unoccupied vehicle into two 27-year-old adult male pedestrians that were loading equipment into the rear of the vehicle.

The unidentified motorist fled the area on foot without rendering aid or providing information.

As a result of the collision, one 27-year-old adult male pedestrian refused treatment at the scene, and one 27-year-old adult male pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.

At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol are factors in this collision.

If anyone has any information, please contact the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, at (808) 723-3413.

The investigation is ongoing.
