On November 1, 2026, at about 6:25 P.M., a critical motor vehicle collision involving three vehicles occurred on the H-1 Freeway (westbound) in the Airport Area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 32-year-old female motorist was traveling westbound on the H-1 Freeway, passing the Airport Off-Ramp, at an apparent high rate of speed when she lost control of her vehicle, and sideswiped a 48-year-old male motorist.
As a result of the initial collision, the 48-year-old male motorist’s vehicle overturned and slid into the center concrete median. The 32-year-old female motorists’ vehicle subsequently came to a final rest within lane number one of the H-1 Freeway, where it was then struck by a 48-year-old female motorist, who was also traveling westbound on the H-1 Freeway.
As a result of the collision, the 32-year-old female motorist and the 48-year-old male motorist were transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 48-year-old female motorist was not injured and remained at the scene.
All three operators were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.
At this time, speed appears to be a contributing factor in this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors.
The investigation is ongoing.
