On October 20, 2025, the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, was notified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office that the 44-year-old male pedestrian involved in this collision had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
This is the 68th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 36 at the same time in 2024.
The investigation remains ongoing.

On October 18, 2025, at about 01:30 AM, a critical motor vehicle collision, involving a pedestrian, occurred on Kalakaua Avenue in the Waikiki area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 44-year-old male pedestrian was walking on Kalakaua Avenue in a marked crosswalk near the intersection of Pau Street, when he was struck by a 20-year-old male motorist that continued traveling eastbound on Kalakaua Avenue without stopping to render aid or provide information.
As a result of the collision, the 44-year-old male pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 20-year-old male motorist was later located and placed under arrest for Collisions Involving Death or Serious Bodily Injury.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, alcohol, or drugs are a contributing factor.
The investigation is ongoing.
