On October 4, 2025, at about 7:48 P.M., a critical motor vehicle collision involving an electric scooter occurred on North King Street in the Kalihi area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 51-year-old male electric scooter rider was traveling eastbound on North King Street when, for unknown reasons, he lost control and collided with a roadway stanchion, ejecting the 51-year-old electric scooter rider onto the raise center median.
As a result of the collision, the 51-year-old male electric scooter rider was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 51-year-old electric scooter rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be a contributing factor to this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
