On September 13, 2025, at about 6:40 PM, a fatal hit and run motor vehicle collision occurred on Waialae Avenue east of 10th Avenue in the Palolo area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that A 35-year-old male motorist was traveling westbound on Waialae Avenue in the eastbound lane of traffic when his 44-year-old male passenger exited the vehicle onto the roadway near the intersection of 10th Avenue where he was struck by the 35-year-old male motorist.
The 35-year-old male motorist then executed a right turn onto 10th Avenue northbound and collided with a 43-year-old male motorist and his 31-year-old passenger that was traveling southbound on 10th Avenue.
The 35-year-old male motorist continued northbound on 10th Avenue without stopping to render aid or to provide information.
The 44-year-old male passenger was transported to an area hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 35-year-old male motorist was later located and neither he nor his 29-year-old passenger were injured.
The 43-year-old male motorist and his 31-year-old female passenger remained at the scene and were not injured.
At this time, speed does not appear to be a contributing factor of this collision. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were contributing factors.
This is the 61st Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year compared to 30 at the same time in 2024
