On September 8, 2025, at about 5:24 PM, a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle occurred in the Waialua area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 28-year-old male motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Farrington Highway at a high rate of speed when he broadsided a 35-year-old male motorist and his 29-year-old male passenger. At the time of the collision, the 35-year-old male motorist was traveling southbound on Farrington Highway and executing a left turn into Mokuleia Beach Park.
As a result of the collision, the 28-year-old male motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 28-year-old male motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The 35-year-old male motorist and his 29-year-old male passenger remained at the scene and were not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, speed appears to be a contributing factor of this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol is a contributing factor.
This is the 60th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 29 at the same time in 2024.
