On September 4, 2025, at about 10:17 A.M. a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on Palahia Street in the Makakilo area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 71-year-old female motorist was traveling eastbound on Palahia Street when she struck an unidentified adult female pedestrian who was walking in the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk.
As a result of the collision, the unidentified adult female pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition where she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 71-year-old female motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be a contributing factor of this collision.
This is the 58th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year as compared to 28 at the same time in 2024.
