On August 20, 2025, at about 7:42 AM, a fatal motor vehicle collision involving an electric motorcyclist occurred in the Ewa Beach area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 75-year-old male motorist and his juvenile passenger were traveling eastbound on Kolowaka Drive near the intersection of Fort Weaver Road, when they struck a juvenile electric motorcyclist traveling northbound on Fort Weaver Road in a marked crosswalk against the do not walk signal.
As a result of the collision, the juvenile male electric motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway and transported to an area hospital
in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 75-year-old male motorist and his juvenile passenger remained at the scene and were not injured as a result of this
collision.
The Juvenile male electric motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be a contributing factor to this collision.
This is the 54th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year as compared to 26 at the same time in 2024.
The investigation is ongoing.
